GATHERING OF THE CLANS
The Gathering of the Clans is a community mosaic project that has been happening on the grounds of Todmorden Mills throughout the summer of 2015. Led by artists Philip Cote and Rebecca Baird of the Tecumseh Art Collective, with Red Pepper Spectacle Arts, the mosaic honors the rich history, contributions, worldview and connection First Nations communities had to the site prior to the expansion of the Western industrial complex. Throughout the summer, there have been many opportunities for visitors of all ages to participate in the building of this striking mosaic project honoring Indigenous clan systems. Come join us for lantern making workshops on September 19 +20, and a community procession on September 27, 2015 in celebration of the completion of the mosaic. |
