Elementary Teachers of Toronto - Labour Day Parade
SEPTEMBER 7, 2026
Red Pepper Spectacle Arts joined the Elementary Teachers of Toronto and its membership for a joyful and powerful Labour Day Parade, bringing large-scale puppets, colour and movement to the streets alongside the powerful rhythms of Samba Squad and Marching Disorder.
Together, we celebrated workers, educators and the collective strength of public education, standing in solidarity for equitable, well-supported public schools and the schools our children deserve.
Special thanks to the wonderful Red Pepper artists who brought such tremendous energy, skill and joy to the parade, and to Maria Abbruzzese and Nigel Barriffe of ETT for bringing us together and for their ongoing work strengthening public education.
Thank you to Rick Lazar & Samba Squad and the Marching Disorder for the incredible music, coordination and rhythms that carried the parade through the streets.
A day of solidarity, creativity, public education and collective joy.
