WELCOME! THANK YOU FOR VISITING OUR SITE.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Red Pepper Spectacle Arts gratefully acknowledges that the sacred land in which we live and work is on the traditional territories of the Anishinaabe, and of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples.
We acknowledge that Toronto/Tkaronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa Bands. This territory is also the subject of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, a treaty between the Anishinaabe, Mississaugas and Haudenosaunee that bound them to share the territory and protect the land. Subsequent Indigenous Nations and Peoples, Europeans and all newcomers have been invited into this treaty in the spirit of peace, friendship and respect.
Red Pepper is grateful for our Indigenous partnerships, and we acknowledge our responsibilities that stand in solidarity with Indigenous nationhood, lands, governance and Treaties. We are committed to the work of unlearning colonial oppressive systems, and seek new ways to address their impacts, that continue to this day. We recognize our obligations to learn and build caring spaces that support community-centered determination, healing and leadership of Indigenous and racialized Peoples.
