LOTUS LANTERN WORKSHOP
Red Pepper Spectacle Arts is pleased to support this Lotus Lantern workshop with Tai Kim, as part of our in genius workshop series - an ongoing workshop series led by our studio's Associate Artists. Tai Kim was born in Seoul, Korea and now lives and works in Toronto. She primarily practices and teaches painting and mixed media, from both eastern and western perspectives, both traditional and contemporary. She also works on elaborate textile installations with recycled materials, and has a performance art practice.Workshop fees go towards paying the artist, materials, administrative & facility costs, and supporting Red Pepper's annual Kensington Market Winter Solstice Festival that happens every December 21 in the market.
SHADOW PUPPET WORKSHOP
This workshop will introduce participants to the history and craft of shadow puppet-making & storytelling, and provide participants with introductory techniques and materials to construct their own shadow puppets that they will get to take home. Facilitator Giselle Navaroli was born and raised in Havana, Cuba, and has a degree in clowning from the National Circus School, and a BFA from the University of Cuba. Giselle came to Canada in 2000 to the World Stage Festival and now resides in Toronto.
